What was I doing here anyway?

You know that feeling where you are determined and full of plans. Then you sit down at the computer and everything just goes out the window in a fit of WTF am I doing anyway.

That describes my life right now. My day job is taking up so much of my time and energy. I am flying every week in July for business travel, and it’s wearing me down already. But last week I sat in the Botanical Gardens in Atlanta and had a lovely dinner while I worked on my new story. This made me very happy, and I need to keep doing that.

In the meantime, here’s what is going on for me in the writing world:

Advent Calendar Story

So I submitted a story for the Dreamspinner Advent Calendar this year, and it’s in the editing phase. It will be out in December with the rest of the Advent collection.

I really had fun with this one.  Here are five things in this story:

  • A man with a crush on his best friend’s brother
  • A winter storm at the beach that forces two men together
  • Sunrises and sunsets at Cape May Point
  • A rainbow made out of sea glass
  • Wooden shoes for a St. Nicholas Day celebration

The Story that’s Breaking Me

So I’m writing a sports romance that seems like it is in endless rounds of revisions. I hope to be done with it soon. Which is bittersweet, because I adore Ash and Mitch and would love to stay with them forever.

Ash Marshall’s life is thrown into chaos when his brother Beau re-enters his life after a devastating 21-year absence. Even worse, he brings teammate Mitch Franklin, NFL star Quarterback and the person Ash hates and lusts after in equal measure.

Mitch finds himself enchanted by the hard-edged younger brother of his best friend. He realizes that the road to a happily ever after will be a bumpy one. Mitch is nothing if not determined, and has already overcome his many detractors when he started as a rookie black Quarterback in the NFL. Sadly, he’s not expecting to face betrayal by those he calls his brothers just as he finds everything he desires. Mitch falls back on the bedrock of his life, his amazing family and the strength they give him.

An enemies to lovers story, where family secrets are exposed, brothers reunite, and hate turns to love.

New Ideas on the horizon

Everything I’ve published or submitted so far has been contemporary, which I really enjoy. But I have a Science Fiction story that’s bubbling to the top of my writing queue. The world building spans universes and is a lot of fun. But my focus as always is on my characters.

I have an urban fantasy also in the works that has a swamp sloth. Really. I don’t think I need to say anything else 🙂

There’s also a YA Urban Fantasy that I’ve been working on. I love this story, but it’s very difficult to write as the plot is very much driven from the cautionary events happening all around us.

Beta Reading Goodness

I am currently beta reading an amazing small-town FF Romance. I am loving it so far, and can’t wait to finish. I hope to share more with everyone on this later.
